Answer The Call

Our mission is to combine the power of the Gospel with the effectiveness of evidence-based practice to equip families to use their homes, gifts, and talents to provide a loving and need-focused home to Georgia’s most vulnerable children.

As of today, July 1, 2020, there are roughly 13,100 kids in foster care in the state of Georgia. It’s easy to assume that these children are being cared for by a system that was set up for that very purpose. It’s easy to assume that this system runs smoothly and has all of the resources it needs to not only survive, but thrive. It doesn’t. The reason it doesn’t is because there is one thing that the state does not have control over, and that is who will be willing to open their home for the sake of caring for these children.

How it all started

Kaleo Family Services is the result of two foster families coming together to raise awareness while actively working to increase the number of homes available to serve the foster children in Georgia. We are working to open a licensed Child Placing Agency in July 2021. That is the soonest we can open according to dates set by the State of Georgia. We will be recruiting, training, and supporting families who are willing to put themselves on the front line of this crisis. These families are crucial for the success of the system, but more importantly, they are crucial in giving children love and a safe place to be while experiencing one of the most traumatic events of their lives.

As you can imagine, we have several steps ahead of us to achieve this goal. Requirements are laid out by the Georgia Department of Family Services that we must follow for licensing and contracting. There is a lot of work to be done before we can get started. One of the major requirements that we must meet is to have at least six months of operating expenses in our business account before we can apply for a license. Those monthly expenses include six different types of insurance policies, salary for multiple staff members, rent, utilities, etc. We cannot accomplish this alone. If you can help, please click the “Donate” button and give what you can.

As of now, we are incorporated as a nonprofit as required by the state, we have obtained a Federal Tax ID Number from the IRS and have filed for 501(c)(3) status, named our Board of Directors, opened a business checking account, and have started this website along with email. A 10,000-step journey starts with the first step and we have now taken a few. Please be in prayer about possibly joining us on this journey in the future as well. Maybe your first step in making your family available to foster children can be with Kaleo Family Services.

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:16-18
